IS COMPANY LIABLE FOR SUCH VIOLENT ACTS

The following are the common ways by which the employees can bring suits against employers after being victimized at work.

1-Identification Agreement

It  is the agreement signed by the companies to transfer the liability of injuries, damages and losses  to 3rd part ,most probably to the insurance company .If any violent incidence occur, the company under such agreement would not bed liable rather the 3rd party would identify the loss.

SUGGESTED STEPS TO MINIMIZE SUCH CRIMES

According to OSHA, it is the violence or the threat of violence against workers, which can happen at or outside the workplace and usually manifests as verbal abuse physical assaults and homicides.

STEPS

Following are the roles which can be played in organization to prevent such violent acts

!- Enforce maximum security by installing alarms and survive lances videos on property.
2-To avoid outsiders to access the employees must be given ID badges, electronic access cards etc.
3- Security guards should be appointed at work place.
4-Education should give to employees regarding ethical boundaries.
5-Awareness must be generated among people to avoid visiting places which are not secure.
6-Provide escort or police assistance at parking lots.
7-Develop liaison with local police so if in trouble. The help is real
8-Safety and ethical meetings should be held.
9-Metal detectors should be installed.

WHY ONLY 1% ORGANIZATIONS HAVE ANTI-VIOLENCE FORMAL POLICIES

Because formal policies for ant violent acts are difficult to make. First of all we don’t have much qualified people in this particular field. Secondly it is difficult to define the limits / boundaries of violent activities to make law against them e.g. before  10-15 years  there was no concept of suicide  attacks  but now the whole world is facing this violent activity.

Formation as well as implementation is also difficult because it brings high cost to the organization and its expenses and then there is no guarantee of the 100% results of the rules because of their unlimited boundary.

CAN METAL DETECTORS INFRINGE EMPLOYEES PRIVACY?

Yes such precautionary measures like metal detectors infringe too much on individual privacy but for the sake of security of life employees should not mind it.
Any company can take as maximum possible safety measures as it can but still there is no guarantee that any violent act can’t be done. But most of the organization doesn’t spend much on this issue because of very costly procedures.
